The side characters are just wonderful, and I fell in love with Vaughn, Sasha and Loader Bot, who for a robot has impeccable comic timing. None of the performances are a weak link, and all the new characters introduced in Tales really feel like they fit the universe perfectly. Like with most TTG games, Tales from the Borderlands’ cast of characters is probably one of the game’s strongest point. These little differences make the game feel a little bit more different from other TTG titles, and while it doesn’t re-write the rulebook, it doesn’t need to, because hey, if it ain’t broke.Īlso, Derringers are mighty fine weapons, alright. Rhys can scan his surroundings and hack into terminals with his ECHO-Eye implant, and Fiona can charm and sway people, and failing that she can always bribe them, or failing even that, you can always just use an elemental Derringer. The main difference that sets Tales from the Borderlands apart from other TTG titles is the two protagonists and their unique abilities. The game is your usual TTG affair, with the plot advancing across 5 episodes of point & click puzzle solving, quicktime eventing, choice making and consequence surviving, with the occasional bout of wub wub (I’m very, very sorry). Right off the bat, the chemistry between our 4 main characters is wonderfully put together, moving from an incredibly fragile alliance to true camaraderie, and with the inclusion of another certain character, everything feels pretty damn amazing. The plot follows our two protagonists, Rhys and Fiona, and their comrades as they run into each other after a series of events best described as a disasterpiece, and set out to find something called a Vault, a location shrouded in mystery which is rumoured to be filled with that all too glorious loot. It’s probably my 2nd favourite game that TTG have released, because The Wolf Among Us is still a thing. I was worried that TellTale Games wouldn’t be able to convert a series that’s traditionally a FPS with RPG elements, filled to the brim with guns, numbers above heads, and unbridled chaos, into a Point and Click adventure, and luckily, they proved me wrong. Here’s the thing, Tales from the Borderlands originally had me a little scared when it was being released. So Tales from the Borderlands, that there’s a pretty wonderful game, so here’s some words about it! LET’S TALK ABOUT: TALES FROM THE BORDERLANDS
